Frequently Asked Questions

  • Yes,  Alison is a Licensed Professional Counselor, licensed with the state of  Oregon. She has extensive training in testing for standardized assessments, is an ADHD certified clinical services provider and is a member of the International Dyslexia Association. She does assessments for learning disorders and other diagnoses that coincide (such as ADHD and anxiety). 

  • We do full cognitive and academic standardized testing that is fully recognized by most to all providers. If a diagnosis is made, it is almost always accepted by schools. 

  • Because our tutoring is paced individually for each student, the length of the program varies. There are 10 levels in the Barton program. It  typically takes 3-5 years (with the natural vacations and breaks intermixed) for a child to finish the program. 

  • We typically see individuals who struggle with learning disorders, ADHD,  and anxiety who need a better understanding of their condition or help with self-esteem  and confidence around these diagnoses. We offer short-term goal-oriented counseling.

  •  Yes, we can offer online intake, assessments and feedback appointments as long as you live in the state of Oregon.

    We can offer tutoring services online for anyone in the world. 

  • We do not bill insurance, but we can take HSA cards (if approved by the issuer) for clinical appointments.

    We provide a superbill for billable items in case you would like to submit it to your insurance for reimbursement. We do not guarantee your insurance will reimburse your expenses.

    Educational assessments are not covered by insurance and will not be provided a superbill.

  • Our tutors are extensively trained. Beyond the standard Barton training system, they also receive ongoing in-service training on dyslexia, learning disabilities, ADHD, and other subjects in order to serve our clients better. Our licensed providers oversee tutoring progress and follow our tutoring students in a holistic manner, making sure progress is made.  

    In addition, most our staff have a personal connection with dyslexia and/or ADHD. We’ve been where you are, and care for our clients.

  • Our clinician has specialized training in identifying learning  disabilities and dyslexia. She also has experience in identifying conditions associated with dyslexia such as anxiety and ADHD. In addition, our clinician is an active member of several professional organizations and regularly attend international conferences to acquire the latest information on dyslexia, learning disabilities and ADHD.
